lt-1 headers

Out of all the headers fitting to Z chassis with SB I've not met a set that was advertised as emission legal. All headers that I know to fit Z

body (with JTR engine positioning) are

1. blockhugger variants from various manufaturers (SS, Hooker

Flowtech - however not all blockhuggers)

2. SS Headers long primary headers for Z chassis with SB

3. Similar long primary tube offering from Hooker (probably

fits only Scarab mounting position)

The long primary headers tend to be really close to ground because of low mounting of engine in JTR setup.

Searching the group will probably result in more choices and clarify which blockhuggers fit.

However - having a 78 Z 2+2 with 350 SB, the problem of smog legality was solved by welding exhaust air pump connections to blockhugger headers (Manufactured by SS Headers, http://www.ssheaders.com).

Functionally smog-wise the setup should be pretty close to stock cast iron manifolds (maybe cast iron manifolds may not dissipate as much heat and allow exhaust temp be a little higher and as such be better for low emissions) and surely as good as any headers (for other chassis) having E.O. (exemption order).

Of course at the smog station it all depends if you have a guy with common sense checking wheather your car will pass emission limits for state or a guy running around your engine room looking for aftermarket parts without E.O.

I'd recommend going with blockhuggers and just connecting air pump

to them. Swap meets usually have air pump plumbings for SB.

Of course if you want to go by the most strict book, you (as well as

me) are probably out of luck. Let the common sense rule !
