Guest shuyun
I have two L28ET that I have dissembled. I took both to machine shop that was recommended to me. The machinist took the best block and the 6 best pistons/rods from the two motors and rebalanced everything for the motor I am about to assemble. I have most of the things I need to assemble my L28 including Nissan bearings (came with the car), Seal power rings, Feelpro upper and lower gasket sets, a 280xz turbo distributor with an MSD Turbo ignition box. I am planning on using several of the old accessories including the alternator and starter. The questions I have are the timing chain and water pump that came of the 1981zxt that I bought appear to have been recently replaced can they be reused or do they need to be replaced? datsunlover
You could reuse them if they seam to be in good shape.. but while it's all apart it's easy to replace them... I think I would replace the timing chain/gears for sure. Just a bit of insurance, you know? The water pump, well.. if it doesn't make noise when you spin it around, and looks fairly new, i'd just throw it back on then.
