Guest jjohart
Hi, I'm looking for info on whether the 83 280ZXT 2 + 2 I have was sold in Euro/Jap. markets with different suspension, specifically shock/strut, but curious about springs etc. I would also like to know which aftermarket strut is best preserving of the ride/handling balance I've come to love in my Z...my bias is that Toxico et al make a harder riding car to the benefit of better handling. I'm not planning on tracking the car, but my mechanic says I need new struts/shocks b/c of excessive rebound (i.e, 2-3 bounces rather than one to recover from bumps, etc). To tell the truth, I'm not even noticing what he's telling me, but I would like to know if Nimso makes any parts for this car's suspension, and would that be a better upgrade than any other brand (kind of like buying BMW M power parts instead of aftermarket). Again, I don't want my car to ride or handle like some rice-racer, and I am admitting that I like SOME of the plushness in the handling that seems like it might have been geared towards American tastes, albeit 20 years ago! So, I'd trade off only a small amount of ride comfort and pliance for hopefully a bit more control (if you cite aftermarket brands, please state model/number/link if possible). Thanks! johnc
I think the KYB GR-2 shocks for the rear and similar strut inserts up front will give you what you're looking for in ride. I don't know if they are still available.
