Mack
hello, Well, I am getting a free 1980 280zx that I will be trailering from Huntington beadch to phoenix. Anyway, I have to replace the head gasket, I think its time for a little performance build on the head. Its an N47, so my plans were to get a maxima N47 and put the larger 280ZX valves in it and have the valves unshrouded and perform a rudimentary port and polish on the thing. Any other ideas? Anyone out there have an N47 off of a maxima that has already been modified that they wish to get rid of? looking forward to hearing any and all input! rreford
I ran a maxima n47 head for a little while. ended up overheating it when the radiator split while running down the interstate. we decided not to run the larger valves because it will make it even more difficult to unshroud. compared to the z n47 I had been running, it pepped the car up quite a bit. i had ported, polish, and cc'ed it, though. now it's useless because the exhaust liners have come loose in two cylinders. Sean73
I have a Maxima N47 for sale. It has a mild performance cam, and stock valves. I ran it on an L24 and it ran great. Then I got the turbo bug so I must sell. Oh, the head only has about 500 miles on the rebuild. Asking $275. I am in Tucson. I have receipts for the cam and all machine work totalling about $500. Email me if interested.
pallnet
i'm going to a yard tomorrow that has 4-5 straight 6 maximas. i too have owned one of those heads but, didn't run it. i have heard nothing but good things about them. i know they will charge me like $100.00 for each head. some say it's rape and some seem to think thats not bad. i should pull them all but, the wallet is too thin to get all of them at onetime and be able to eat regularly for a few weeks. hahahahaha.. Mack
yeah i can get the damn things for about $50 complete. $30 minus the cam. I got a P90 + cam + turbo exhaust manifold from a local yard for $75 when all was said and done, not too shabby! McAdam p.s. what kind of compression ratio will shaving a 280zx N47 about .030" on a dished piston motor give me>?
