ToplessZ
Ok I got in a discussion with someone regarding a 305 small block and they seem to believe that they can run their 2.02 fulie heads on that block. The gentleman said that he did this on his 1979 305. Am I wrong in saying that the 1.94 intake is the largest the 305 bore can handle or is it something else besides the bore that limits what size valves you can have in your heads. Thanks for your help guys.
Guest Anonymous
Jared, World Products makes a S/R Torquer head specifically for the SBC 305 or 307 with 1.94 X 1.50 valves. You may be able to bolt up a 2.02 head to the 305 or 307 but it may not wotk that well. You may be right. There was a set of the 305 heads for sale on here that had the exhaust opened up to 1.60 but the intake valves were 1.94. On Chevy engines, my education is about 3 months ahead of yours LOL
biohzrd
no you can't run heads w/ 2.02 1.60 valves. they will hit the cylender walls. the only exception to this is are the trick flow twisted wedge heads due to the fact they relocate the valves. other than that 1.94 are the biggest. denny411
Even If they would bolt up without obstruction, The valves would be so close to the side of the cylinder, that any gain from valve diameter would be wasted by valve shrouding. air would only flow from 2/3 of the valve.
