SBC_400
I have 71 240z with a chevy small block 400, and a turbo 350 trans, what is the chance of changing it to a manual , like a BW or a Muncie, and what might be the average cost
Guest greimann
The chances are very good. You probably already have the clutch pedal in the car?? If not, that is something you will have to deal with. I'm not sure of the price, but if you look at this list of things you have to change or buy, you might get an idea. Transmission Bellhousing Flywheel Pilot bearing Release Bearing Clutch Fork Master cylinder Slave cylinder Driveshaft Shifter Shifter boot Trans mount Did I miss anything? SBC_400
well, i dont have a clutch pedal, can that just be added to the current pedal group, or do I need to buy a whole new pedal cluster?
Guest greimann
You are going to have to inspect your pedal box to see if there is a spot for a pedal and shaft. Maybe the previous owner just removed the pedal but the support is still there. Get a shop light and sit in your seat upside down is the best way to look up under there. silicone boy
I bought a used clutch pedal and brake assembly for my conversion, only to find that, after taking out a zillion bolts and banging my knuckles over and over again, I only had to add in a clutch pedal (my Z originally came automatic and could still accept a clutch pedal). You will have to obtain a brake pedal specific for a manual car also--they are different.

WC T5 is a great trans for ease of installation, but I'm not sure how it'll handle a 400, especially if it is pumped. If I had over 400 hp, I'd probably look at a converted Tremec or something. The T56 is cool, but some of the guys have had some issues with used ones. I guess that is something you'll always have the possibility of running into when you deal with used parts.
