Guest LT-1 350Z
Due to a blown trans my car was park for most of 2003 .I blu it when i intalled nos. after the trany was fix i had fun on the street again.for those that are not familiar with south florida law now ,street racing is a felony and your car could be conficaded . is worst that a dui. but back to having so fun. my first race was to 01 z06 vette light mods and nitrous.i had him the whole race until i hit the rev limiter and forget to shit into 4.been this a low 11 sec car i had a feeling that my car could hit 10 just on nitrous.after that i have race 02 procharged z06 vette up to 150mph.i got him by 2 car or so.same night i race a twin turbo 302 factory five cobra replica wining also, even after i hit the rev limiter earing the crazy sound of the turbocharger thru the side pipes.i took the car to the track the day before thank giving to find the track was crowded it took until 11 pm to make the only pass of the year. so having only 1 oportunity to race the car after driving 100 miles. i launched the car just on motor and the nos when it move few feet in order to save my still original 75 rear end & half shaft . the launch was good for 1.50 60 ft and the mistake free run of 10.89 at 125mph 1/4 which i wanted to improve but i had to pack and go home.at this point my engine still stock with 150 shot of nos.i already have bought forged piston, rods, hot cam, fully ported head with biger valves and looking for direct port nos for 2004.how fast will it run ? just waiting for the track to open in january to add race fuel and a 225 shot to see if is true that the stock botton end of lt-1 corvette don't hold a 225 shot . i will keep you imform. some other victims, aston martin vanquish, bmw m3,96 stang cobra,03 cobra,03 350z just to make the guy feel bad,02 ford ligthning with kenne bell supercharger, 11sec 86 ford mustang ,twin turbo ford mustang , a few c5 corvette. Guest KillerZees
hey man, I live on the east coast (cocoa beach area). I feel you pain with that whole racing thing. Thats part of the reason im doin the 240. I want a trac car, somethin i dont mind beating on. I just wanted to know more about your car. I have a 73 240z that i want to make a 10 sec car. My formula was quite close to yours now (a pretty much stock engine 300-325 hp, with forged pistons and a 150 shot). i was wondering what type of z you got, rear end, and trans... cause it sounds like my car might be in the 10 sec club soon. Guest LT-1 350Z
hey man nice knowing another florida z fan.my car is a 75 280z full body with 93 corvette lt1 auto.the only bolt on is 1.6 roller rocker,1 3/4 full lenght header ,cold air intake from scracht and 150 shot of nitrous. you can see the car how it was 2 years ago in the link that i have bellow.the car weigth 2550 with gas on it.still have the factory r200 open diff on it with 3.54 and so far no problem, and i have launch the car a lot of time on nitrous with et street tirees with is close to slick& never had 1 tire spin my friend has 70 240z with the gm performance 350ho 330hp v8 with a t5 from a91 camaro the is wicked fast for the street on the track is dificult to race . i think if you want a trac car you should go auto . with the set up your planing with 150 shot if your hook you will see 10 sec pass all day long, just remenber the headache with track official that will tell add 500 pound of steel to make your car safe. good luck with your project i hope i answer your question
Guest KillerZees
yeah i was allready goin for the auto for sure. I was kinda forced into buying an auto ttz (it had 41k when i bought it...sqeeky kleen) and after owning it for a year I dont hate autos as long as it is a good one. I was going for a th350 at first but now looking at a 200r. I was also not sure of what rear end I should use, but I have time to figure that out.I know i want to spray about a 150 shot on an engine w/low compression steel heads and some flat forged pistons (i was told to set timing back 5 degrees and use race fuel too). the reason im going with Nitrous is cost and i can drive around with 150less hp when Im not racing. If i can keep the car for long enough i might upgrade to 383 forged setup and spray what you were talkin about (roughly 200). But that would be years...i realy dont see selling this car I wouldnt get enough money for it. And where else r u gonna find a car this light and that looks this nice for what they cost, if I sold it I probably by another one. By the way where in fl do you live, I live near Cocoa Beach. rustorbust
I was wondering why with the open diffs some of the z's hook up so well, is it because of weight distribution or what. Cause last year i helped a buddy build a 73z with a 406 and a 150 shot of nitrous. It had the hardest shifting manual valve body turbo 350 i had ever felt. We ran it with et streets and i never saw it spin one tire more than the other and it was open. I also thought we would have broke it first time around the block but that thing wont give up and we have hammered on it hard. What is the limit on the original diffs suspose to be cause im pretty sure with the nitrous were making somewhere around 500ft lb maybe more. Just Wondering?
