Guest EnthuZiast
I need to replace myh alternator in my 280ZX N/A. I was just about to begin and for the life of me I cannot figure out how i'm gonna get to it. It seems like I would have to remove half the stuff in there just to get to it. Am I missing something major here? It would help if someone could let me know how they have gone about it. And just to save all the trouble of thinking it: I know I struggle. Thanks for the help! fl327
two bolts at the bottom front and back of it and one bolt holding the fan belt in tension, 8mm to undo the connectors in the back, and its on the floor, if its oem maybe easier to hit from underneath. Guest EnthuZiast
Thanks for the help. I can do bolts, I just can't figure out how to get to it. Unfortunately the car's covered and outside in a bad place to put on jackstands so I have not tried that as of yet. (Not to mention the nice crip weather) I suppose that I will try that when I get a chance. If it is possible to remove from above, however, someone please chime in. Thanks again! fl327
What I meant to say is usually its a piece of cake from above, but sometimes the oem zx has a bunch of stuff that could be in the way, and its easier to just to creep from underneath to loosen the two bolts. It should take you about 15 minutes start to finish with the right tools. Glory of the L6 nissan is that you cant burn yourself on that side of the engine bay
