Guest Anonymous
TW Sikes either buy, beg or borrow the JTR Datsun Z/V8 conversion manual becuz it is filled with info and sez the SBC is about 150 #s heavier than the L6 and will give u a lot more info how to lighten that SBC with lighter alloy parts. Some people call it a conversion V8/Z bible and quote from it. I always open up my well worn copy with assorted notes and Hybrid enclosures for spiritual guideance and don't leave home without it. Welcome to this site for Datsun Z renagades. Praise the z and give me all your after market parts.
Phantom
Also - if you do a search you'll see where ar weights are discussed. The weight of your ZX depends on how it's equipped. I have an 83ZX, normally aspirated, 5-spd., & T-tops - totally stock. With 3/4 tank of gas it weighs 2,880 lbs, 1,430 front wheels, 1,450 rear wheels. Guest Anonymous
I am using the LS1 motor. Which is an all aluminum motor the air intake is already plastic so there not much I can change on the motor to get it lighter. I already have a ls1 in a s10 and the motor only weigh 97 pound more then the 4 cylinder that I pull out of it. But I am not trying to find out how I can get the car lighter I just want to know about how much the car will weigh after I get the ls1 in there. I want the car to do high 10s low 11s in the quarter so. By getting the total weight of the car and the weight of the motor and tranny I can get an ideal how much the car will weigh after I complete it. This way I will know how much hp (power adders) to install on the motor before I put it in the car. Does the jtr show you what to do to support the frame. Thanks twsikes
Mike kZ
Nice truck! As for the weight, it will be close to the stock weight give or take 100lbs.
