labrat
I just cut the ends off of the metal lines and used them to clamp rubber transmission line to. takes about 10 ft. and that's a job i'll never do again with the tranny in the car. I have almost ZERO clearance on that side. A regular chrome mr gasket dipstick worked fine with me, but once again, it's something that works much better before you drop the motor and trans in.. georgiaz
I thought about the rubber line, but was not sure if it would work out ok over time. The stock dipstick wanted to come out between the heater hose conections on the firewall so we pulled it out with plans to use a flexible one. It is pretty tight back there. Thanks for the input. I'm still open for suggestions.
383 240z
Lokar makes a very nice flexiable tube one style mounts to the block the other mounts to the firewall. If you want to make a rubber to metal union PLEASE double flare the steel line if not the sharp edge will eat away at the rubber from the inside and will pop a bad leak about 30 miles from any place for a repair also if you are going to run a long strech of rubber line use zip ties to hold them together and make sure it is transmission hose fuel line just can't take the heat and psi. georgiaz
Glory Halleluya! The engine and trans are in! Next question. How and what kind of transmission lines have you guys run? It looks lke I will hve to pull it partway out again to hook them up, but before I started buying and bending line I thought I would, onced again, ask the experts. I am also looking for a flexible dipstick tube for the trans. Any suggestions? I tried to do a search, but for some reason I don't get a response to my query. Is there a problem with the site or is it my computer. I can't live without the search function.
