Guest PBooty
I'm trying to improve my surfacing skills on Solidwords (CAD), so I thought it would be fun to draw my 280z. Since, I know a lot of you on this forum our working on various parts of their Z could you guys post some general dimensions for me that you happen to come across or simply know from memory. for example..dimensions like width, lenth, height, radius of curvature for that car itself, for the hood, hatch, windsheild, and soo on.... the only schematic i could find was the one on Zhome site off that brochure....pic was kinda too tiny for my liking... any help will be appreciated.. innerware
I dont have the deminsions that you need but an idea for you to draw the z. If you can get a hold of any drawing s of the car and I know that they are out there. You could scan them into autocad and rescale them according to demensions you can get off of your car. Once you have the orthographic drawings (front top side and back) scanned and rescaled to the proper size you can save as a dfx in autocad and import it into solidworks. I believe this could work. I don't know solidworks well yet but I know autocad pretty well. Anyway, if you end up doing anything in solidworks I'd love a copy. What version are you running? Good luck
jimzdat
Here's the few pages I have online: http://hybridz.jimzdat.com/pics/ I can probably scan the pages from the 1976 FSM that show all the dimensions also if you want them
Drax240z
Pbooty I am quite interested in seeing how it turns out... I've played with surfaces a bit in Solidworks and its not the best. The Surfaceworks plug-in can be quite nice for a project like this... Anyway, please email or post your results as you are going along. FSAE car in SolidWorks, body contours were done using SolidEdge.
