I bought my first Z car yesterday, after 17 years of lusting after them!! I've been looking for the right car at the right time on and off for the last 8 of those years, and the car and time finally came together in the last couple of weeks. :D

Upon the advice of my local Z club (Thousand Islands Z Car Club, thanks Todd & Marc), I was looking for a good rust-free shell. Well, it appears that I've found one in, of all places, Nova Scotia, where we know cars remain rust free forever! ;)

Actually, this early 1974 260Z is a South Carolina car, but it's been in storage in NS for the last 16 years. The previous owner, a racecar builder & driver, rebuilt much of the car in 1996, but then put it back into storage. The engine rebuild has zero miles on in, so I guess I'll be the one breaking it in. The car will be on its way here Monday via enclosed transport.

I expect to have to replace a lot of rubber parts in the next year - hydraulic system seals, bushings, shocks, etc. I'm likely going to be in the market for some performance parts too, so please contact me if you have any of the following to sell:

- a good set of roundtop carbs

- performance shocks, springs, swaybars, bushing kit

- 15 or 16x7 wheels, 225/50 (15 or 16) R compound tires

- roll bar

- some light sport seats (preferably reclinable)

- cheap set of black door panels (I don't want to cut my good ones to make speaker holes)

As you can tell from the list above, I plan to use this car as a track/autocross car, as well as a sunday driver. Any advice/suggestions or repairs or preparation would be welcome!

Looks like I've just joined a great community!! :-D

cheers,

Welcome!

It indeed is a great feeling huh?

I just hope you get to have your Z for longer than I did. Watch out for stupid drivers and enjoy yourself

Any Pics?

Yep, it's a great feeling... especially after all these years!

Now I'm just looking forward to getting it in my garage...

I'll take some pics next week and try to post them...

Thanks for the welcome! :-D
