Guest yTTyTee
So I've searched this forum and zcar to find out if 240 bumpers will fit on my 76 280. I've read many different answers and I would just like to clarrify. I've read that the front bumper will fit just fine, with no modification as long as I have the 240 brackets. I"ve read three different things about the back bumper. One said that it would fit just fin as long as I drain the shocks and push them all the way back, another said I would have to drop the gas tank and remove the shocks, and yet another said it could only be done with body work. Any one know the real answer, has anyone done this with the same year? PS. I posted this earlier when hybridz was going through the upgrade and it got lost, so if this is a repeat to you, Its cus my first post dissapeared and I never saw any answers to it. EvilRufusKay
The short answer is both front andrear 240 bumpers will fit on a 280. The long story is there are many different ways to get it to happen. None are a simple bolt on app. which is what it sems you are looking for. In any case you will need to make your own brakets. Remove both the front and rear shock absorbers, get a set of 240 bumpers, pick them up and place them against the car. At this point visualize what you will need to fab in order to get them to fit. The fronts will be a lot easier than the backs. Basically it will consist of some "s" shaped bent 1 1/2" metal stock. I have a 260 front bumper I will sell you if you can't find a 240. Very similar. No brackets or rubber. $75 plus shipping. Rufus

Guest yTTyTee
Thanks for the info. Very helpfull as I couldn't seem to find any definite answers in other posts. I'm actually buying the bumpers off a friend who is parting out a couple of parts cars, but thanks for the offer. Tim
