Guest sp1ker
Hi all, I am the current owner of an 82 280zx 2+2 turbo and am contemplating on purchasing a 70-73 240z and dropping in a v8. I think 5-600 hp is my goal and I want the car to be reliable. Would it be wiser (cheaper) to put my current motor into the 240 or go with a v8? I know the l28et could only handle so much boost but am not sure of its reliability. Also what would a good conversion like that run?
80LS1T
Do a search. This has been brough up countless times. There are pages of info on the LS1/LS6 swap. IMHO the LS1/LS6 will be more reliable at 500-600HP range than the L28ET due to it having more cubic inches to spread the "load" over. Not to many engines are reliable at that range though for as far as street use goes. Guy Oh and welcome to the site!
