blueovalz
The idea has merit, but you will need to have one side left-hand threads and the other side right-hand threads. Having it being a "stressed" member is of question to me. In some cases, a pre-stressed component can be of value, but I do not know if this would be necessary for this application. With the way that the unibody is designed in this area of the car, I can see where it would be quite easy to distort the hood/fender gap when you begin tightening this coupler. A lot of tension can be generated this way with very little resistance at the coupler.
Guest Z-rific
Just an idea right now... Take 2 rods with threads on one end (each). The diameter can be of your coice, but I suspect at least 2". The end without threads should be modified to bolt onto the strut tower(maybe flattening the end and drilling out a bolt hole. The rods should not meet in the middle, but be 2 or 3 inches apart. Then take a coupling device (something with threads at both ends) and coonect the two rods in the middle. You can turn the coupling device to tighten the two rods together. Paint it and you have a $10 strut brace. Whaddya think?
