Guest 305240
Today I was gandering at my 81 ZX parts car I'm getting ready to have hauled off. It's pretty much stripped. I opened the hood and was looking at the engine bay and thought "Gee, looks like a chevy would fit in there with no problem. Anyway, I looked at the power steering setup. It's not a rack and pinion. The steering box is bolted to the frame. To me it looks like a chevy could be dropped in without having to cut a steering shaft. I could be all wet here, if someone knows better than I, please correct me. Anyway...If someone wants the complete setup, pump included, come and get it. Free. I live in southern Oregon. 80LS1T
Yeah it will just drop in but you have to use manifolds and not headers to make the exhaust work. Otherwise you can make headers like me and a few other guys. Now about this parts car.....does it have T-Tops? And if so would you like to sell the little chrome pieces that hold the inside edge down on teh outside? Guy
Guest 305240
Sorry Guy, It didn't have T tops when I got it, and I had to use the clips for my 81 turbo. However, almost all the guys in our Z club have parts cars. I'm meeting with a few of them tomorrow and I'll ask around for ya. Best I can do Bud. 80LS1T
You know what pieces Im talking about right? There not really clips, more like trim pieces. Guy
Guest 305240
Yes I know. They are held on by about 6 screws I think. The screws are under the weather seal and usually twist off when you try to take them out. When you get those out, you get the flip trim as well as the lock in the middle. (For the lack of using better words) The chrome piece for my drivers side was missing. It looked kind of ugly with just the black strip showing. Would you be interested in a targa band? I'll see if I can find where this guy was selling new ones still in the box.
80LS1T
Yup thats the one! What is a targa band? Guy
Guest 305240
A targa band is the piece that is missing across your roof. It connects the pillar post trim. IMO I think the zx's need it to finish off the trim. It comes with plastic (I think) flat bars that are pop rivited to the roof, a black rubber type gasket/seal that goes under it all. The band then just snaps onto the clips. It's made out of the same stuff as the pillar trim.
