grumpyvette
really the best way is to buy a used car with the engine and trans you want, old novas, chevelles, and camaros can be purchased if the bodies in bad shape from rust or collision damage quite cheaply
Guest jdllaugh
There's no web site that's going to offer that kind of combo for under $2k. The only way to get what you're after is to do lots of research and know what you're looking for. Then you haunt the salvage yards, Bargain post, E-Bay and local swap meets. It might also be worth your time to ask around at the local drag strip for castoffs.
Guest zfan
Search the pick-n-pulls, Local hot rodders out of work or call shops and ask if they have any unclaimed builds. You would be surprised as the economy has crapped out there are some good deals to be had. Mike

Guest Anonymous
Dont forget swap meets and flea markets. I went to a swap this past weekend at the ballpark and could have picked up several types of auto trannys for under 250 calms. All were in working order and could have bolted right in zoomed away with. Shoot- someone had a 460 ford w/tranny from a mid 70's police intercepter for $250. Hey, some guy had a 280z for $500. It was there Sat, he said it needed a new clutch- I talked to him for a few mins kinda let it slip that it needed to be bled was all..... Had I have seen the 2 guys behind me listening intently to me, then I would have that Z right now.......
