OK Now I really need Help

Recommended Posts

This is not for my Datsun but here goes!! OK the motor is in and running. the exhaust is hooked up and the trans is full. Now comes the part I dont know how to do. The motor is a 350 chevy with a 700r4 trans. the induction is a Holley 4160 750CFM w/Vacuum secondarys and is BRAND NEW. I pulled it out of the box and bolted it on. now I need to know how to set it up. I also have an Mallory unilite dist. I picked up a dist. tuning kit (springs and weights) I have an Adv. Timing light and a good vacuume gauge. the initial timing is set at 8* (I figured that was a good starting point) and is pulling 19" on the gauge. now what do I do? Keith

First thing you want to do is make sure your mixture is close. Drive the car about 10 miles and then pull the plugs. Black deposits indicate too rich, white deposits indicate too lean and tan deposits are just right. If you need to adjust mixture, go two jet sizes in the direction needed and re-test. If lean, go up in jet size, if rich, go down and if you are really rich, pay someone to do it for you! tongue.gif

It would probably be a good idea to pick up some books on tuning to get a good knowledwege base going.
