Hybrid Z wins at local Z show!

Recommended Posts

Well, I went to my first local Z show here in Eugene, OR at the Nissan dealership. It was put on by the Northwest Z club & Lithia Nissan, joined by the Southern Oregon Z club. There were about 40 cars there, so not a bad turnout. I had my buddy's black 240Z with 400 SBC (since he was at Disneyland with the family & my car isn't done, yet) and was parked next to the only other V8 Z, which was a very nice, orange 240Z with 350 w/ 5 speed. Not only did he win best modified, but he also won best 240Z. For typically be the "shunned bastard children" of the Z crowd (in some instances), it was pretty cool! Oh, the owner (forgot his name, dang it) also runs the car at a good half dozen track days. All show and go! That's what I'm talkin' about!! :-D

So if you had 40 cars show up it must have just been raining lightly - right?? :D

Seriously - sounds like great fun. 40 cars for an area that size is an excellent turn-out. They can be real attention grabbers. We went out on a tour with just 15 cars in caravan yesterday and really turned a lot of heads. I had the only V8 so took the standard abuse from the other guys but held my own - especially since I had the only gen 1 car with an adequate AC!

Ran into the second 350Z guy in 3 weeks that had cratered his motor. The first one did it after adding an ATI procharger. This guy did it with a bottle of nitrous. The stock VQ35 just doesn't handle any aftermarket

"performance enhancers".

Very slowly indeed. I got into a performance enhancement chat session on another Z car site and mentioned the V8 conversion and was imediately bombarded with all kinds of purist hatred.

Oh pity for the unenlightened.
