Rear end choice for 450HP/470ft+ engine?

I'm looking at building up another 280zx and dropping in a RB30DET engine (minimum 450HP/470ft). ;)

Reading over the posts there seems to be a little variation in which rear solution is best, and I want to get it right first time.

The direction I'm heading is a R200 Quaife setup, and some people mentioning a CV conversion.

I haven't bought the car yet, but I hope to get a 2 seater, even if I have to import (no production of 2 seaters here in Australia as far as I know).

My problems are: do any 280ZXs (T?) come standard with CVs? and are there likely to be any problems with CVs or stub axles breaking with this power (maybe even more :) )?

Thanks.

Can the 280ZXT rear end setup handle this kind of performance' date=' or

should I be looking at another solution?[/quote']

you just use 280ZXT stub axle and CV joint in your OE rear end.

if you want to get trick

you could swap

A31/C33/S12T/S13/S14/Y32 diff case (pay attention if its open or VLSD)

A31/C33/S12T/S13/S14/Y32 clutch type diff

A31/C33/S12T/S13/S14/Y32 output flange (if open flange on VLSD case, shave the right hand flange to the left hand flange length)

Get a CA18DET S13/Skyline R&P gear for 4.375

Get a S12T R&P gear for 4.11

Keep the stock S13/14 R&P for a 4.08

Get a Z31 Turbo R&P gear for 3.70

enjoy

you could always do a R230 conversion too
