Guest mr.makaveli
I am starting a 240z turbo project, hope to have it done in 1-2 years and I'm ready to choose a powerplant to swap in. It's going to stay with nissan and will be either a l28t or vg30dett. Found this earlier. http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/pek-nissan.html'>http://www.importperformanceparts.net/imports/pek-nissan.html The prices are the same for rebuild kits for both engines, go figure. I think I'd rather spend the dough and have it done right the first time and let them assemble it themselves. Just need the pistons coated by swain is all. http://www.importperformanceparts.net/ What do you guys think? I have about $10,000 saved to START the project. Took a VERY VERY long time to do this. I can get a long block for $100 bucks for a vg and a complete l28t for $200. I found an importer who will sell me a low mileage vg with ecu, trans and wiring for $1900 delivered. I want around 500 hp and 500 tq and run somewhere in the 11's but more importantly I want a fast street car that will last. I would love this swap to be done by next summer, but I can wait. I planning on spending around $4000 on fiberglass, paint, interior, stereo. Another $3000 on tires, rims, suspension and brakes. Can I take a l28t to 450hp+ ? I would rather use the l28t because of the ease of the swap but the vg is different and lighter overall am I correct? I already have a daily driver I want a really fast toy. I am single, 21 and am a less than a year away from a degree in nursing (currently a cna) so cash won't be a problem for long. Can put aside $500 a month every month for car starting in the fall. Only thing I have to start paying for is use of this site by way of donations. This site is the best on the net for Z swapping!! If you read this far thanks and your opinion please. V8ZRACER260Z
A bit out of my area of expertise, But it sounds like a good idea. I have heard you can make some decent power from the vg's. I'm more of a V8 guy myself. There should be some guys on here that have done this swap though. Welcome to the board by the way.
