Guest mr.makaveli
did a search but couldn't get a definite answer. Been offered this car http://www.members.aol.com/repriebe/ for $800 cash. I think it is in pretty good condition overall. It runs very well I've been told, the guy just needs to get rid of it soon as he is moving. It has less than 115,000 miles. I plan to swapping out the engine with a vg30dett and plan on selling most of the body parts and will instead go with carbon fiber for as many parts as I can, and fiberglass with everything else. I want a high top speed plan on doing mods (not just hp) to get me there but need to know if the sunroof will make this even more difficult? Does it add weight to the overall car, and if so about how much more? Does it increase wind drag? Would I be better off buying a straight coupe instead? I do like the sunroof alot , I don't plan on driving it in bad weather, so leaking wouldn't bother me. What's the verdict fellas? Thanks in advance for any help or opinions. auxilary
the problem with sunroof is not drag, or weight. It's the fact that it weakens the structure of the body
Dan Juday
If you like the sunroof keep it. With the generally poor airodynamics of the S30 body I can't imagine that the profile of a pop-top would make things much worse. If you want to get rid of it there are others here (DavyZ to name one) who have done it. Search a little more and I'm sure you'll find stuff, it has been discussed. auxilary
What Dan said. For DavyZ's roof, he and I bought a parts car to strip, so we cut the roof off of it and he used that for his Z. He has a shop graft the roof to replace the sunroof. Actually, I'm heaidng over there to get some parts - I'll bring my camera and take pictures of his Z post-sunroof repair
auxilary
You can guess what color the roof of the parts car used to be. He also had the drip rails shaved.
