Guest rw
both of my rear tires are set forward in the wheel wells. is this normal ? I have no handling or tire wear issues. it just looks strange. 1975 280Z [stock] thanks
Dan Juday
Are you sure? Just seems hard to imagine how that could happen. There's no way any of the suspension parts could be put in backwards to do that. Can you post a pic to illustrate what you mean?
Dead Roman
its my understanding that this is very common among z cars. I have heard it discussed on other forums bu ti cant helpd you, wait for one of the big dogs to post.
maichor
When I was trying to decide where to mount the 240SX suspension in my 240Z, I used a plumb line from the apex of the rear fender and the tires were nearly 1/2" off center toward the front, I think they just built that way. The wheel well slopes off to the rear which makes it look even more forward. When I did the swap, I moved it all back 1/2".
Synlubes
If you stand looking at the Z from the side, the rear fender does apeer to have more gap at the back side of the tire than at the front. This is normal. (hope this is what you were referencing)

ZR8ED
Its normal. Mine is the same. It becomes more apparant when you run larger wheels and the front gap gets real tight..making the difference between the front and rear gaps more noticeable.
