I am about to embark upon my z8, i am buying the 280z this wednesday, and i was wondering if there were any really big pitfalls that i need to watch for in the JTR conversion. I am just wondering so i can plan ahead, so i can finish the engine install quickly and efficiently.

rust and keeping the car running while doing modifications. In other words tearing the car completely appart while doing all the modifications at once. Do not try to do it all at once.

No big pitfalls IMO with the JTR conversion, although this forum has many opinions. One thing that has interested me is the driveline angle phasing---look up Pete Paraska's site for info on what he did to make the diff & trans more in-line with one another. Other then that, the JTR manual addresses most of the issues. Good luck

Davy, thanks for the plug.

m35514h, check out my Driveline Mods Page page.

I can tell you this much. I've ridden in 4 V8Zs besides my own, and all but mine had driveline vibrations under load that were quite unsettling to me. I feel going the extra step to make sure you drive shaft u-joint angles are small (most say less than 3 degrees) and equal front and rear is well worth it. My car accelerates with none of the driveline vibration I've felt in other V8Z's.
