Guest the_dj
I've had a hairline crack in my oil pan for a couple months now. Over that time it's dripped maybe 3 qts, and I'm ready to replace it. This pan seems like a good replacement: (EDIT: The pan didn't just crack by itself. It hugged concrete when I hit a pothole.) http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=4457&prmenbr=361 My radiator also has a leak in it. I'm using the JTR radiator from the Camaro (it was on the car when I bought it so I don't know what year/model Camaro it's from). I've had some trouble with the temps in the Houston summer heat, so I shrouded my radiator, but when I went to test it, my water pump belt came off and cracked the radiator. I'm interested in a new aluminum radiator if it will help the temps significantly, but I'll just get another one like the one I have now if it's much cheaper and won't make much difference. The JTR one is already installed so another one like it would be simple to install. I have a spare '88 300zx turbo radiator. How well does the one from the 300 work compared to the JTR recommended one? What do you recommend I get? The car overheated, but there is no water in the oil and no smoke, but I'm going to pull the valve covers (actually replacing the tall ones with short ones) and retorque the head bolts and adjust the rocker arms as a precaution. I don't want to have any more heating troubles. Ugh. Summary: 1) Oil pan is cracked; is the one I'm considering a good one? (link above) 2) Current JTR radiator cracked. Have a spare from an '88 300zx turbo. Use the one from the 300, get another JTR one, or buy a new one?
Guest 305240
Wow! Nice oil pan, skid plate and all! If you want to in the meantime, get out your little grinder, grind the hairline crack enough to skuff it up, then load the JB weld on it. It should hold untill you get your pan in. You might try your local rad shop and let them have a go at your radaitor. Prolly a whole bunch cheaper than a new one.
timh
I have a JTR recommended radiator you can have for $75 plus shipping. I used it for two years before going with a "prettier" howe radiator. Tim
