Guest Anonymous
I heard rumors that a fresh coat Bowtie Red added 10 more HP to A SBC
Guest Z-rific
That's why I went with Red also. Chrome valve covers = 5 more hp, chrome oil pan = 5 more hp. I think Red brake calipers will get you another 20 hp.
Guest LuckiDawg
Since you have started your project I'll show mine. This is for all the people emailn me about pics.Sorry it has taken so long.My project is nutn extrordinary.I had my motor blow so i dedided to thro in a 350 in it.The motor is nutn special either (for now).I just went to the junk yard and picked the motor and tranny for $500.Slapped it in the next day and BAM had it running. Here is the site to look at pics: http://www.mlpro.com/fc/
Guest SteveR
That was the plan. I just couldn't bring myself to go with hi-po yellow though...
Guest SteveR
Cool, I knew there had to be a couple out there. Is that a solid mount? We had intended to just cut the horns out of a junker camaro and use a stock chevy mount. I like the hood (not sure about the chevy intake thing though.) Did you need the extra clearence, or is it just for fun? Looks as though you have a tall breather though.
Guest LuckiDawg
the extra cleareance was needed.Couldnt even get a small breather in there. With the chevy on the hood not done.HAven a Z painted on the hood with the bowie symbol being in the middle of the painted Z.Also there is a neon lite under the hood that shines at nite. Guest SteveR
Yet more pics! Using a cheap little 1/4" thin digicam that I can stick in my pocket and just snap a pic whenever. Which I would have never done with a big, nice one. Problem is that what you see in the viewfinder is NOT what it takes a pic of. So, I'm still getting used to centering, and thus: focusing on what I'm trying to take a pic of. Here's darth hacking away at the oil pan gasket: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00581.jpg Here I was trying to get a pic of the cylinder wall. It still has crosshatching on it. Looks like a low mileage engine! http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00591.jpg With the Holley Street Dominator Intake on: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00601.jpg Quality gaskets make all the difference: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00621.jpg Oil pan back on: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00641.jpg Just before calling it quits for the night: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00701.jpg Well, tomorrow we rip the old engine out of the Z. I'll be sure to take plenty of pics of that!

Guest SteveR
http://home.mindspring.com/~crao/_uimages/OldandNew.jpg I think I like YOUR 350Z better. Oh, my bad, 327Z.
Guest Darthmentos
Just got back from Steve's, we got a lot done today, pulled the old blown 6 and trans out.And set the V8 in to check clearance, and get some related measurements. Amazingly, the V8 could be fitted to the stock mounts If we were using an automatic.Or at least it appears so. The 5 speed would collide with the firewall if we did that, also ,the distributor wants to take a bite out of the firewall.Next, tranmission reassembly, once the package is together, we can determine exactly where all the mounts need to be. And adust mounting points as necessary. Mr Steve should arrive shortly with lots of cool pictures.
Guest SteveR
Here we go... Unplugged, ready to come out: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/img00811.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00781.jpg And it's out: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00821.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00851.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00901.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00911.jpg The V8 isn't any bigger at all! http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00921.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00951.jpg The T5 is wider, but shorter: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00961.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00971.jpg Hmm, WILL it fit? http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG00991.jpg Sure it does: http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG01031.jpg http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG01041.jpg Even fits right over the stock mounts! http://livethenow.com/tempdir/zcar/IMG01011.jpg Actually, it will need to come forward some. The distributer hits the firewall and, more importantly, the bellhousing on the tranny won't go all the way into the trans tunnel for how wide it is. Then again, we could fix that. Whatdaya say Darth?
Guest Darthmentos
No need to totally reinvent the wheel. We can cut out and tin in for the distributor, but changing the whole firewall for the engine mounts' sake is a little over the top. Remember K.I.S.S. If we gotta take the pan back off and build a custom fit, then so be it.
Guest SteveR
Nah, just kiddin. I'd rather cut up the hood, if anything.
