Graeme
I have a 327 67 model engine with double hump fuelie heads and flat top pistons with valve recesses. Also has a torker edelbrock manifold with a double pumper 750 holley carb. The engine number is 3903352. The valve are 1.95/1.5 size. How much power will this thing produce? I have taken the heads off for a regrind and the bottom end looks freshly recoed. I took out the cam and cant identify it. It has stamped on it GMC 1539. Can any one tell me what this cam is? Thanks guys Graedat
fl327
stock specs on the camaro 327 67 are 275hp@5800 355lbs@3200 i used to have a 67 327 in my z and thats about what i had it putting down to the wheels with a lot of aftermarket love, those were very overated numbers from the factory. but those small journal blocks are very strong, forged bottom end and forged steel crank, makes for a great foundation to start throwing power at. i would just get a set of vortec heads and a lumpstick and im thinking 300hp is cake. Guest Anonymous
your camel hump heads and block match up to 67 327 status.GM had some hot performers back then. Your GMC 1539 (?) cam is the mystery that a more knowlegeable member may solve. The cam identification and specs will tell the story on the other combinations. I agree with Len in the 250-300HP if that cam corresponds with 1.94/1.50 cylinder heads which would be a good combination.Of course Vortec heads and appropriate cam as Len advises would put some snort in it

fl327
that cam could be either the old 327-350hp vette cam, or the saturday night special off road cam, both were gm parts counter cam upgrades for a time when there wasnt too much else in the way of cam specs. both of them are solid lifter cams, and since they came out there is million different and better grinds to choose from. theres a million different choices, depending on what you want to do with the motor and where you will be driving it of course. Heavy Z
After a lot of researching, I went with 2.02/1.6 valves with a Comp Extreme Energy 268 cam. It's 224 intake and 230 exhaust on a 110 LSA and 106 intake centerline. Lift is .47 and .48. I love this cam! IMO it's a perfect all-round cam, nice lope, great low-end, tons of pull to 6000 rpm. The XE274 also looks good, both are hydraulic and are well suited to the 327. Heavy Z
Guest Night_rider_383
I love the crane power max I have in my 327. 272/284 216/228@.050'' .454''/.480'' 112 lsa I run 1.6 roller rockers on mine so that brings lift to .484''/.512'' Has a great lope in my .030'' over 327, plus gives real good low end and I cause of the gearing in my truck(3.08) I can't get the engine to high enough rpm to make it stop pulling
