I've been reading the threads on this board for some time now and think that the idea of a light high powered, cool looking car is awsome. I'm thinking about getting a 240Z and doing the JTR 350 swap in the future, but in the mean time i get bored and build different set ups by using either the summit catalog and other internet sites. One of the questions i have is if I were to buy a 350hp turnkey crate ZZ4 350ci engine, what type of manual transmission would fit? I want something in the line of five or six speed. Another question is where do you buy the five lug conversion hubs? Also, who sells good performance lowering springs that will hold up the weight of the motor? What rear end differential would be best with that much HP? I think the engine has something like 390 ft lbs of torque but i could be wrong. I know i have more questions but i cant think of them now. Most of the V8 talk is new to me since Im a bit younger and have one of those Honda rice rockets. Its decent, but still only a 14.3 in the quarter. Any light shed on these questions would greatly help me. rockon.gif

Cool! Thanks. The next question is pretty dumb, in fact i think its gonna outrate anything else Ive ever asked in my life, but im gonna have to ask it anyways. Im asuming the T56 tranny is a manual, but how many gears is it? and what car did it come in? Thanks again rockon.gif

T56 is a 6 speed manual gearbox. Came in Camaros, Firebirds and Vettes. Circa 1993 or so on up. Go to E-Bay and type in T56, or LT1 (V8) or LS1 (new gen. V8) and see what you see, or just do a web search on T56. Best value for money is to find a good deal on a 94 to 96 LT1 and T56 out of the above cars and drop it in.

Awsome, thanks. I thought that the T56 was the tranny on the LT1 but wasnt really sure. An LS1 would be pretty cool to swap in, but if i was really gonna fork up the money for that, Id put a LS6 in for the fun of it. Of course thats all cloud talk. Im waiting for my JTR manual to come in the mail, but i was wondering if the manual covers an LT1 swap, as in goes over the wiring and such. rockon.gif

dont get a t56 tranny out of a vette you wont be adble to make it work, only 93-97 camaro, firebird, will bolt up to a sbc. later one 98+ wont without to many mods.

(just trying to make sure you dont make the same mistake some people have made. ie. geting a vette t56)

I have a few more questions now. Whats the average going rate for a LT1 with a T56 allready on it? If there is a site that sells it, I would be greatful for the link. My other question concerns the LS1. My friend keeps nagging me to get an LS1, but Im not sure if it would bolt up to a T56, so can it? If a regular LS1 can bolt onto the 93-97 tranny, can the LS6 bolt up to it as well? I dont ever plan on doing that, but if I hit the lotto I'll do it just for kicks. Right now at this point I'm leaning towards a LT1/T56 combo if the pricing is right. Thanks again for the info. :D

93-97 or so Camaro Z28's and TransAm's have either the 4L60E(automatic) or T56(six speed) tranny. You'll need the factory wiring harness and computer to make them work in your Z. Check out the JTR web page. They sell other manuals covering the wiring of these swaps. It would be easier to buy a wrecked car and get all the wiring and computer from it for your swap. Be prepared to pay $3000 or more for the wreck. Good luck on your swap.
