Guest m35514h
I was wondering the jtr manual didnt cover this. Do i use chevy drive shaft or jtr. I think u would just use chevy and get it cut and balanced.
Guest Anonymous
Correct...all GM shortened and balanced (1310 Spicer outside clip ujoints) drive line and a Neapco 2-2-899-1 Flange adapter for the R 200 differential and this is covered in the manual but not the flange adapter JTR wants $50.00 for that I got locally for $33.
Guest Lee Smith
Will a 77 drive shaft rear U stand the power of a stock 350? I also have a 84 diff setting here with a much larger flange & U, would it be better? The 77 1/2 shafts will pop in the 84 won't they? The 77 1/2 shafts are the weak link, right? The 84 CVs are to long, right. I am trying to get my thoughts/parts together for the 77 SBC AT od because that is what I have on hand. I am not to conscerned with mpg because I will only put about 2000 mi/yr on my toy. What is the best combo using what I have on hand? Guest Anonymous
Lee.. Try to source a Neapco 2-2-1819 flange adapter for the 84 round diff flange if not just change the flange on the 84 diff to the earlier rectangular flange that will accept the 2-2-899-1 flange. You want to use the larger GM drive shaft and 1310 spicer u-joints.The 77 1/2 shafts should work. web page There is quetion if the CV joint half shafts are as stong as the ujoint half shafts. there are some life time guarantee half shaft ujoints with "NO" grease zerts called (?) Brute Force that will hold up. You can pull some cv joint half shafts out of a late R 200 diff 280 zx or zx turbo that will require hub adapters from Ross Corrigan web page
Guest Lee Smith
Since I have both R200s I was thinking the heaver 84 flang & U would be better to put on the Chevy drive shaft. I plan to make my own drive shaft. Years ago I put a SBC & AT in a Ford pickup. I made the drive shaft using a chopsaw. It ran for years with no problums.
