Georgia Flash
I know this goes elswhere but I need a quick answer and this is the best place to ask it. I will be going to the salvage yard in a few to get a 700 R4 from a 91 van. I guess my concern is how to correctly identify it as a 700 R4 and is the 91 van going to have what I'm looking for? Also are there any other parts I need to grab while I'm there? This place closes at 2:00pm that's why I need the quick answers. This post can be moved after 2:00pm or I can just delete it if need be. Oh by the way they want 325.00 for the tranny, that is without exchange. Thanks
Guest ixfn
Well, off the top of my head, the most 700r4 trannys have a large upper case D on the bellhousing (varies), there are only 6 bolts for the bell housing, there is no top 7th bolt like on some older GM transmissions, also, the pan has 16 bolts and the overall length is 23 3/8 inches. Around 91 is when GM starting switching over to the 4L60E which is electronically controlled, it's very similar however has a couple sensors I believe. Not a bad price if it's in repsectable shape
