Guest 2slo4u
Anyone have a cure for sticking turbo wastegates on stock 280 turbo? My wastegate actuator tests ok and still cannot push the wastegate open. The boost almost goes off the gauge and sometimes I can't hold the pedal to the floor because boost is too high. Is this a common problem or am I going to need another turbo? It seems to limit boost to a little past the red on the stock gauge sometimes and sometimes almost off the scale. If anyone has ideas, I'd appreciate it. I had this problem once on the other 81turbo car I had and it just went away and worked fine after a few drives. I've even tried using penetrating oil at the wastegate shaft and it seemed to work for a few days, then started staying shut again. Could it be rust or excessive carbon buildup that could be cleaned away? 81zxturbo 95slobaru impreza
Brad-ManQ45
You could try using PB Blaster (a penetrating oil) on it to loosen the crud up..
