Chaparral2f
I just spent the whole day trying to get my car to start for the first time, and the olnly thing I have to show for it is that the oil pressure guage works. For some reason it wants to backfire through the carb, then out the exhaust. First problem is that I don't know anything about Magnetos. Of course the fact that it was about 102 in the shade, and slightly warmer in the garage may have some bearing on why I couldn't figure out what's wrong. I know its the timing, but its been just too hot to think. Oh well, I think I'll go sit in the refrigidator and see if the light really goes out when the door is closed. Mike kZ
If it's backfiring through the carb, I would say you are 180* off with your magneto.
Chaparral2f
Yeah, that's what i kind of thought too. But I plan on waiting until the temp around here goes from unbearable to just miserable before I get back on it.
datsunlover
Yah I did that on my old 85 Rex7 (305 swap) Started cranking, and BOOM!! flames out the carb.. silly me, I try the thing again! ba BAM ba BAM out the exhast, and BOOM again through the carb! It actually caught fire for a second this time, so I stoped cranking it. Took 4 guys, 2 hours, and a few beer's to finally check out the timing/dizzy. Man I felt stooopid! But it was ok, cause after fixing it, it fired right up and I went for one hell of a 'maiden voyage' heh heh.. blck marks out the driveway and up the road!
