VG30ET issues wiring/hoses.

I've tried searching but haven't really seen anything... may have missed it.

I've got a 1988 300zx turbo and it was bought without the engine wired up. I've wired up a few motors before so I didn't think it would be an issue but i think the person i bought it from didn't know what he was doing... nothing is labelled and hoses and wires are everywhere.

This is my first ZX so this is all new to me. Basically I'm trying to find a good diagram of hoses, vac. lines and all the wiring because the haynes manual is garbage. Or if someone could lend me a hand that would be good too :) I saw the posts about the painless wire kits but i'm not really sure how it would work... do you have to sit there and splice in the connectors for all the sensors and solenoids?

Also... Is there anyway I can get rid of any of those vacuum lines to clean it up at all or is all of that crap absolutly nessecary? The reason I ask is because when the time comes for my swap I am going to try to squeeze the VG30ET into my hardbody pickup and I'd really like to not have to deal with all this mess again... I know that the RX-7's eliminate most of the vac. lines but then again this isn't a rotary we're talking about here...

Feels like i'm trying to do a 12,000 piece puzzle with no box to look at.

Go all the way down to figure 20 for the Turbo 88 vacuum diagram.

Go all the way down to figures 56 and 57 for Engine control and starting and charging.

the wiring is pretty straight forward..as certain connectors only fit certain connectors, really you only have to figure out left and right...because the injectors are no longer sequential after the recall...for vaccuum lines....

that will guide you..just print the stuff off, and maybe write down the descriptions....between that and your hayes, you should get it figured

his main site has loads of other z31 stuff too...

also, try z31.com as well

if you have any more questions, lemme know an I can go look at mine for ya

its a little intimidating at first, but if you have a hayes manual or something along those lines, you'll be fine...if you look at the site above that I referenced, theres a parts list.

heres someones process with it...in a pathfinder..but the same process

there is no real online guide...I'm sure if you look you can find it....but its pretty straight forward, take everything off..an it goes back on in the reverse order  ...the only real moment of tense-ness is the alignment..and more than a couple dozen VG30 boards will help you there....just make sure you do as much of the preventive maintenance stuff as you can afford cause the belts gotta come off to do it after (water pump, tensioner/stud, cam/crank seals, CHTS an sub harness(can be done later..just a PITA))

set aside the weekend, have the parts...it's doable..make sure to turn it over by hand a few times before starting it cause they are interference motors
