performance heads question

ive done many search and cant seem to kind a anwser.

a friend was telling me that it is better to do 1.7 roller rockers on the exhuast and 1.6 on the intake. now me personally have never heard of this b/c. has anyone heard of this or even tried it. the reason i didnt think it would work is b/c ive never seen a 1.7 rocker for a sbc? :?:

Very common to go with different ratios to make up for a head/cam flow issue on one side or the other, so this would not be out of the question.

 

Problems come in with extended lift rockers when you lift too much and smack a valve into the piston. You've gotta know what clearances you've got.

 

Over ratio rockers give more lift and because of this, a slightly longer opening/closing time. So, you also gain a very slight increase in duration. IF the motor is getting new heads and such, you're better off sizing your cam to give the lift and duration you want, rather than using rockers to beef up a weak cam.

 

What is your situation with the motor? What is the car used for?

the car is goin to be a street car.

 

i have the motor together, i have to differant cams i can go with. the cam that is is in there now is 220 @.050 i also have a cam that is a COMP XTREME ENERGY CAM

274/286 DUR. 487/490 LIFT

im using an older set of heads that are 76cc . the piston have big relives in them so the vaulves can go a little deeper.

 

here is some extra in for you so you can get an idea of what im working with.

to see if it will be worth me doin this on a street car
