Guest keb55
I have an 82 280 ZX and would like to put a 1968 Chevy 327 in it using the stock 5 speed manual. Is there an adapter kit available for this ... or a template to build one ... and what problems would I be looking at with the input shaft? THANKS!!! Mike kZ
That stock 5 speed will not hold up to 327's torque.
Guest keb55
Good Day To You! If the tranny wouldn't hold up ... would the rear end?
80LS1T
You should have a R200 rear end. The R200 has proven itself to be a very reliable rear end. And if you want to go crazy get an R230. And no the T5 from the stock drivetrain will not work/hold up. Even if you could find an adapter it would not be worth the hassel of swapping trannys all the time because you would keep breaking them! jonzer12
Why would you want to use an adapter when you can just grap a GM t-5? They are pretty cheap and bolt right up.
Guest keb55
Thanks for the input. I was looking in this direction because I have all these components, and if it was a workable solution to a motor with a quarter million miles on it ... why not ... I have never worked with any foreign drivetrains before. I am putting together a 39 Ford Deluxe Coupe and just finished a 36 Chevy. This is where my experience lies ... It is what I do for a living, although I do ride a massaged V 65 ... so all of this info is valuable to me. I have a deep pan TH400 and thought about using it but I would prefer the manual. I wasw glad to hear that the rear ends are solid ... Thanks again.
