Guest Anonymous
I know this is kinda off the beaten path(way, way, WAY off......), but can a Z chassis be able to handle say, 505 lbs ft of torque? I want a V8 Z, & the only motor I have right this second is a cadillac 472(I measured, & "technicaly" it would fit...!)
Mudge
Cage it, go for subframes eventually. If you think the body itself, that would be VERY unwise. Even 1960s American cars have a big problem with cracks in the body and twisted bodies, first gen Camaros etc. They were not built to handle big power. I'm a believer in cages for many reasons, power not being the only one. Remember these are unibody cars, not even a solid frame.
Scottie-GNZ
I am at about 550lb/ft and here is what I did for a '71. 6-pt cage, F & R strut tower braces and a cheap but very effective stiffener for the frame rails. I cut, shaped and welded 3" U-channel over the entire length of the frames rails. 240Z Turbo has the same setup and our cars appear to be holding up just fine. Not necessarily advising you to go that route, but just showing an example. There are certainly better, cleaner ways to do the frame rails. I just did not want to put my car in rotiserrie jail
Guest MegaShaft_2000
How much weight will a roll cage and other braces add to the car?

I really don't know what exactly I'm going to put in there, I'm just one of those guys who likes to get as much info as possible, then decide. I totally dig that GNZ! Totally boss. Thanx again!
