HEY EVERYONE, JUST FOUND THIS GREAT SITE!! I HAVE JUST GOTTEN BACK INTO THE Z CARS AFTER YEARS OF BEING AWAY AND NOW BUILDING A COUPLE MORE. ONE IS A 70 THAT I WILL KEEP CLOSE TO ORIGINAL FOR NOW AND THE OTHER IS A 73 THAT I AM GOING TO TAKE ALL THE WAY DOWN AND ATTEMPT TO BUILD MY DREAM CAR. I HAVE A 96 LT1 VETTE MOTOR AND WANT TO PUT IN DIGITAL GAUGES. I ALSO AM LOOKING TO KNOW IF ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY POWER SEATS THAT ARE COMPATIBLE FROM ANOTHER TYPE OF CAR THAT WILL FIT IN NICELY. THE OTHER THINGS I AM LOOKING FOR ARE POWER WINDOW KITS AND POWER DOORS AND HATCH KITS, I AM GOING TO DO AWAY WITH THE DOOR LOCKS AND HANDLES AND HATCH LOCK AND WANT TO CONVERT TO A REMOTE ENTRY. I HAVE BEEN SURFING SOME SITES BUT HAVENT FOUND ANY REAL GOOD ONES WITH THESE ITEMS OR IDEAS SO IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT. I HAVE WAITED TO LONG TO GET THE Z CARS BACK INTO MY BLOOD AND WANT TO DO IT UP RIGHT ON THIS ONE. MY LAST ONE I SOLD ABOUT 7 YEARS AGO AND REGRETED THE HELL OUT OF IT EVER SINCE. I BUILT IT ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO AND DIDNT HAVE THE INTERNET TO HELP, WE DROPPED A 350 IN IT THE HARD WAY, WITH NO HELP AS I COULDNT FIND ANYONE WHO HAD TRIED IT WHERE I LIVED TO TALK TO. I AM SURPRISED AT HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE INTO IT NOW AND I THINK ITS GREAT TO BE ABLE TO TALK ABOUT IT WITH OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE SAME LOVE. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP ANYONE CAN OFFER, I APPRECIATE IT AND WILL TRY TO SHARE SOME OF MY OLD KNOWLEDGE FOR OTHERS WHEN I CAN HELP. ALSO IF THERE ARE ANY Z NUTS AROUND THE GATLINBURG TN AREA, GIVE ME A SHOUT, LOVE TO MEET OTHERS IN MY AREA. THANKS AGAIN!!

Howdy, Glen!

Welcome to the group. One place digital gauges are available is from Jegs. They have the Cyberdyne line of gauges that might suit your needs. I have not seen a 5" tach or speedo from ANY company, but that doesn't mean they aren't out there. Let us know when you find something that works (this might be better answered in the "High Tech" group)

As far as electronic lock and window kits, I think one of the best places to look might be in the back of one of those custom trucking or hot rod magazines. They're forever shaving off their handles, so they might have a better idea. I haven't got any experience with power windows in an early Z, but I've done power locks. Not a lot of room to work in there, but if you're creative you can do it.

Good luck (and remember to turn off your "caps lock" key!) smile.gif

First of all, please turn your caps lock off.

That said, AutoLoc has some nice shaved handle kits and remote stuff. You should check them out. www.autoloc.com They have stuff for your remote entry and door and trunk openers.

As for the power seats and gauges, I don't know. But let me be the first to say that all of the door opening motors and power seats and locks and stuff really adds up on the weight which naturally affects how fast you go. I don't know what you intend to do with the car and you may want all that stuff no matter the weight. I just wanted to make sure you were aware. ;)

Oh yeah, welcome to the boards. I'm fairly new myself and just waiting on some funds for a V8 conversion. This is a really kick-ass board.

Hey again,

First off sorry for the caps, my fiance always uses it and i just started typing and didnt notice until i was too far into it. Thanks for the info, i tried a power window kit years ago from a company that i think was British Victoria and it was very rough running. I know its a tight area to work one into and i was hoping that someone would have came up with a better one. Thanks for the info on the gauges, i have only looked at one site called Dakota and i am not having any luck with the spedo or tach, i am hoping that someone out there has realized that the Z is a popular car and will make us some nice gauges for them. I do appreciate the help and please offer up any suggestions you might have for any good sites with a variety of aftermarket Z parts, its very needed. Thanks again!!!

Thanks Jon,

I just took a look at the website and they have some nice gauges. Did you find a speedo or tach that would fit? I see the small gauges seem to be the right size but didnt find any 5 inch which is what i believe the speedo and tach are. Also considering modifying the dash some where the 2 are and putting a panel in as i will be covering the dash in leather and could probably get away with a nice clean conversion. Thanks again all the help is appreciated!!

Jon, those gauges look really nice. I'm wondering though, are they hard to see in bright sunlight? If not, do they dim when the headlights come on so as to not blind you? Also, it says they get interference from other wires and powerful ignition. Is this normal? Just something I noticed.

Man I wish they came in blue LED. That would look awsome. ;)

I got some of the nordsko dig. gauges for my camaro a while back, then later I put em in my truck..

The ones I got are great, you can see them fine in the sunlight, and really not "too bright" in the dark. They have a warm glow not real sharp that hurts your eyes to look at them, but each gauge does have a dimmer wire on them so if you wanted too you could hook it to your interior light dimmer
