DavD3
Hello everyone.I did 79-82 Toyota 4x4 front brakes swap.It works great, i really like it and recomend to everyone who still have original brakes on 240z. But i run into one problem, right pads time to time develop rattle noice, really annoying. My car was checked by two shops, noone can find problem, they say it looks and works normal. As soon as i drive few miles from the shop rattle starts, when i push break it goes away. Then starts again. I did install springs but not shims. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell what's going on ,also i wonder if it's safe to drive like that. And yes, i checked archives but didn't find answer on this topic. Thank you.
datsunlover
I'd say put the shims in.. it sounds like the pads are 'floating' a bit in the caliper and bouncing around up, down, and side to side. When you step on the brake, it pushes the pads to the rotor, therfore taking away any 'space' for the pads to move in. I had an 85 200sx that did that forever and it didn't hurt anything, but was very annoing. Come to think of it, my 75 280 does that to (stock brakes) and I just ignore it now.. Im going to the toy 4x4's this winter anyway
