Guest Anonymous
I have a small block Chevy in a vehicle right now (87 Trans Am) that I can't see the casting #, but the stamped number up front is K0824FJC. Does anyone know what engine this is? The car came with a 305, but I suspect the short block may have been changed (has centerbolt heads and all other accesories look original, or at least correct for a carbed 305). Georgia Flash
Joe, The numbers up front on the passenger side of the block near the alternator are the engine assembly date and suffix code. I went to this site: http://www.mortec.com/locatpg2.htm and came up with the following: K= Engine Factory location (McKinnon Factory Canada) 08= Month (August) 24= Day of month (Aug. 24) FJC= Suffix Code I could not find what the suffix code on your car was but that info is out there somewhere because I was able to figure out what mine was a few months ago. You will need to get at the casting #'s to see if your block is a 305 or 350. Hope this info helps ya out.
