Guest 73TPIZ
Can anyone recommend a short spark plug and wires that will clear my block hugger headers on 'vette alum angle plug heads? the headers are made for angle plug heads (supposed to be). stock plugs and cheap wires i have are almost touching. i put chrome tape on cyls 1,3,2,8 but they won't last long. I don't want to burn up on the way to Reynolds! thanks
Mudge
You could give Autolite 104 or 105 a shot, those are pretty short. The LT1s use a 106/107 stock, which is probably close to the L98 setup. I spent about $65 for some 1500º boot protectors, they are around 6" long or so each, I was frying wires with headers as well, good MSD wires too
Guest 73TPIZ
Thanks Mudge, i'll try that tomorrow. thanks BTW, i fired her up for the first time since the rebuild just now. i put fresh rings and bearings in while she was out for the head swap. saw 63lbs on the oil press before shutting her down (45sec run) compared to a high of 28lbs a month ago. ran open headers in a closed garage at midnight. God, i love that sound. thanks again
Mudge
I know the feeling! When I did heads/cam I didn't have my Y pipe on before I had to fire it up, 2 days of long, grumpy work in a tight engine compartment. After that it was all worth it, sounded like a freaking dragster I love nasty cams and open exaust
DavyZ
Accel makes some short spark plugs that are usually available at the neighborhood Kragen, Checker, etc. They have a supercharged V8 on the package with shorty headers and are made for tight applications.
