pparaska
I think the Trick Flow heads are a better bang for your buck than the Edelbrocks, at least the older design. I have no idea what the newer designed Edelbrock heads are like - haven't seen any independent flow or dyno tests of them. But then again, so are the "Jeg's" heads a good bang for the buck. They are actually Canfield heads and flow well, have a good combustion chamber design, and are well made. Your favorite Grumpyvette likes these, BTW. Zfreak
Is your friends motor going to make hp on the top of the rpm curve or in the mid range? Edelbrock is fine for a lower reving motor. If you really want to wind it up go with the Trick flow or ever better Airflow Research.
Guest bigjim240z
well he wants 400 plus horse power..and it will be in a 240z with either a t56 or wc t5...i wouldent think it would need major low end torque in a 240z..so maybe the trick flow's are the right choice...whats the reason for the special push rods with the trick flows?..any one know?..thanks jim
jt1
The Trick Flow twisted wedge heads require odd lenght pushrods to get the valvetrain geometry right. I learned that the hard way. I don't know if that's still the case or not with the newer heads. Why don't you call Trick Flow, everytime I've called them they've been very helpful. Modern Motorsports Ltd
If TF's are angle plug make sure you understand your header solutions if that might be an issue. FWIW, my RPM's have been very good to me...their OEM springs aren't so hot but I replaced them a few years back and no issues with the comp cams replacement parts I used. I run a Victor Jr. and on both my 327 and my 350 they shredded tires right off of idle with no preload etc and mild cams. Just my .02c.
