jobambo
Im going to be looking at an engineless 240z. The guy said it has everything done to it, from the mounts to the tranny. Is there anything i should keep on eye on while checking it out?

Wagz
What to look for, buying an engineless 240z? An engine. Sorry, I couldn't resist. Like Magnum says, start checking for rust: - Frame rails - floor pans under the battery tray - rockers - hatch area I'd also check the wiring out as best you can and ensure the lights and other accessories are in working order. The stock fuse boxes on the 240's have a nasty habit of heating up and melting. Not certain what the seller means by he's "done everything from the mounts to the tranny." I assume this means the trans and the rest of the drive train are there and in good working order. Has he replaced all of the suspension bushings? What else has he "done?" Are you planning on putting a stock type L6 motor or converting to another engine?
Kevin Shasteen
Regarding the wiring harness, look under the dash for wiring splices. Look anywhere you can under the dash or glovebox for wiring splices. Any splices may mean a future wiring nightmare. Without an engine - dont give to much for the car: it should be considered a salvage yard car as far as prices go. Certainly its always nice to get a solid (as solid as can be) 240z but dont get so excited you end up purchasing a money pit. Look for the A/C hook ups. I dont know your plans but its always nice when you get a used car if/when the A/C hook-ups are there and the system has been closed to humidity. Besides the typical rust areas that is about all I can think about. Kevin, (Yea,Still an Inliner)
