ilostmyname
i bought a 260z a couple weeks ago and it ran fine, but now it won't start. all i get is a click from the starter. i have put in a working battery and no luck. i've replaced the negative and ground cable with no luck. i have tested the old battery and its ok. tried jump starting it and still just a click. scraped off corrosion with a wire brush and even tried smacking the starter. what got the most progress was when i got my cousins and uncles to try and push start my car. it would fire once then die. What else could be wrong? any help would really be appreciated. thanks
Guest Magnum Rockwilder
Take the starter off and see if it turns over when you use jumper cables on the terminals. If it doesn't, it's a bad starter. If it does, put the tranny in neutral and try to turn the engine over by using a socket on the crank pulley bolt. If the engine won't turn, it's seized. ilostmyname
thanks for the reply magnum. it looks like it is the starter. i just thougth that the push start would of bypassed the starter. maybe i wasnt pushing hard enough. haha thanks
