evildky Posted November 9, 2004 Share Posted November 9, 2004 well I got my KA 5 speed stuffed into my 240 saturday, wasn't too bad, I got the tranny free from a local inot the SX's, got a spare $ speed to remove the front case from a bud in my local Z club, swapped the front case and front bearing from the L trans onto the KA trans (required boring out one fo the shift fork pilots) bought an ebay short shifter for $60 (I cut it down another 2 inches) cut my trans crossmember moved the center section back welded it back together with the propper tilt to match the KA's mount, had my old 240 driveshaft shortened and ballanced for $95, slapepd it all in and for about $150 I have a fifth gear (still working on the speedp I think my cable is shot) if you have thought of this swap it's easy, and inexpensive and a lot easier than finding an L series 5 speed at least it is here in the rust belt Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
