Guest Magnum Rockwilder
I'm picking up my swap donor car today, and it has a blow-through carbed turbocharged V8. It isn't tuned right, so for the drive home I'm wondering if I can just remove the boost pipe that connects the turbo to the carb. That way, the turbo would just be boosting into the atmosphere and the engine would be running with no boost. Will it damage the turbo to boost into the atmosphere with no resistance? If I CAN do this, how long is it safe to leave it that way?
cygnusx1
Wedge open the wastegate it should be ok if it even runs with the open carb. Stay off the throttle as much as you can obviously. Good luck.
