A little bit of replating and matching them all up to one key and I will be set for the life of the car. Click on 'main menu' on the left, then 'members portal' and that should get you to the forums, then check out the classifieds. That process is open to anyone. You will have to join if you want to PM any of them, e.g about the third on the list is '73 1200 parts'. Contact him/her and see if they have a hatch lock. Good luck. I would like to think that I, or probably my grandkids, will still be using the car in 25 years time, it's part of the philosophy behind my build. If the locks are that hard to find now can you imagine what it will be like further down the track. 250 GT0s are now 45 years old and more popular that ever and I expect they will still be icons for many many years to come - this should help keep interest in our replicas. (And Larry) I have that MG lock on the hatch of my 280Z, and other than grinding the old hole to match the new lock, it was easy to install. I think I just had to turn the arm 90 degrees, and bolt it on securely. When you think of choosing a door pull, you need to remember to get something that has a threaded body that extends a LONG way into the door. You have the thickness of the Z door, the GTO door skin, and a little air between, and the thickness of the lock bracket inside. I think that if you machined a shoulder of some kind the diameter of the threaded part ( on the MG lock) you could gain an extra 4-8 mm of length. I think I have one lock that I hacked up that way somewhere... When I bought my MG lock, I noticed that you can get a whole set (of three for the outside locks) of MG lock barrels keyed alike, but you probably could have a good locksmith do it for you ($$$) Do you think you could machine a Datsun "key shape" to fit the MG lock? You'd only need the tip portion. Either that, or you use a couple different keys ( different in shape) for the car- one for the door and one for the engine. I was thinking of alternatives for the Honda lock... Like don't some appliances have door pulls like that? Maybe refrigerators or something? Just a crazy thought. thxZ & Merry Christmas! They also have Lexan HL covers 195 BP $383 US, and Alum Trim rings 175 BP $344 US I don't know how to attach pictures to these replies but you can see them at the above site. The light cover is a bit rich for my pocket book I can make some like the ones chell displayed on an earlier post. I am rebuilding a few Nalle Cobra Daytonas so I have the same issues with the door and trunk locks as you guys. I've been searching for the Honda trunk lock every where without luck. The MGB lock is just too expensive. Someone on an earlier post had mentioned about using the Z's trunk lock. I got a few extra trunk locks sitting here and I think I can fab up something for it to work with the door. The only thing missing is the this: http://www.illinoislock.com/cam_locks.asp?id=605 which I found just now. Initially I was going to install a selenoid and a popper for the door. Since the locks were originally European in manufacture, maybe we are even looking at parts from the wrong continent? You could probably find a lock smith to key them alike. Too much trouble with these manual buttons. If you need info on the install of the selenoid into a Z or ZX let me know. GL V. Look at what I just found. I'm looking for a shop to remove the old chrome, polish, and re-chrome these. I figure it's cheaper per set if I do all three at one time. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what shop? Is anyone interested in purchasing one or both of the other two refinished sets? I've included links to pics. I bought these from a guy on one of the Honda forums who made a trip to his local junkyard to pull parts for several people. I can't remember which forum but he lives in lower Canada. He pulled every set they had. I paid $20 per set for these including the extra I sent him for his time and trouble. I don't know how much reconditioning will cost. I'm not looking for any profit. I'll submit full disclosure regarding cost and that's all I want back. It won't take me any more time to have three sets done than one. I'll step up the pace if two people want the two spare sets. Or if you want three locks and someone else wants the last single piece that works too. They can be re-keyed to match your ignition switch but that's up to you guys. I don't know about your immediate area...I'd check your local yellow pages...but there's a top notch chrome shop just down the road from me in TN a ways. They've done a lot of work for the Horsepower TV guys in the past. But, I'd still look around your area first. I'd imagine though that you'll want to actually DE-chrome and clean them up first before sending them in to have them RE-chromed....I've got a nifty DE-chroming trick.
