"Bubba" was at the Chicago motor speedway for the RSR Drift Day. Very impressive!

Even compared to a 600hp Supra' date=' he by far produced the most smoke. Crazy torque monster![/quote']

Yea, RSR was great. To bad he kept braking stuff, he would have done good in the end of the comp. Very cool guy, got to talk to him. Dident know he owned a Z eather

Hello everyone, I'm Derrick, the guy that drives the El Camino. Thanks for all the compliments!

Might surprise some of you that I've been lurking on the HybridZ forums for the past 5 years or more. I may be drifting an El Camino, but I'm also a Zcar fan through-and-through. I've previously owned 7 Zcars including several 240Z/280Zs (one with L28T) and Z31s (including 50th AE). Last year I consolidated my Zcar passion into a single hybrid 240Z project. However, that project has been put on hold for the time being so I can devote my time fully to drifting.

I'd love to use a hybrid Zcar for drifting, but for the upcoming 2005 professional drift season, my friend/teamate James and I will be sticking with the more unique (at least to the sport of drifting) and appreciable classic muscle-car theme and character, with an early-gen Camaro or the like. There's also a chance we may be sticking with the El Camino next year, but we could be far more competitive in something that has more favorable chassis dynamics (weight dist, wheelbase, etc.)

Garrett76Zt and zemus, were you at the Chicago RSR event? If so, awesome. We had a recurring problem with the alternater that day - the strain from the supercharger kept ripping it off it's mount. The second time it happened was 5 minutes before the competition, so we couldn't get a replacement in time and we unfortunately missed the competition. We later fixed it for good with a different alternator that has a stronger outer case and mount. The Formula Drift championship series will be coming to Chicago next year - if you can make it out to watch, be sure to stop buy our pit area and say hi

ON3GO, yeah, the El Camino recieved the "wall mod" pretty hard at Irwindale Speedway in Califoornia 3 weeks before the RSR event. But we thrashed and got it repaired in time for an event the weekend before RSR @ Chicago.

Garrett wanted me to come down for that drift event too. I wish I could have seen you rip it up Derrick. It's pretty cool that you are a Z car guy. Although I'm not a HUGE fan of drifting (yet), I haven't seen a S30 ripping it up with the best of them. With the somewhat recent exposure of the early Z car due to the release of the Z33, a S30 would be an awsome spectacle in the drifting scene.

Good luck and stop by more often! We would LOVE to know about your Z car(s)

!M!
