Attached with screws, rivets? I'm curious about what the guage pod will look like. It looks very modern - like a dash/console from a Mini Cooper or a new Volvo. It looks very modern - like a dash/console from a Mini Cooper or a new Volvo.[/quote'] yeah they are aluminum, at the shop i used to work at i took a piece of 4 inch heavy wall stainless, clamped it to the bench with the sheetmetal clamped underneath and simply bent the aluminum around the tube slowly with a little tweaking they fit great. to attach them i used 8-32 1/4 inch allen button heads. they worked really well and i got a box of 100 from J&L for 3 bux. the dash pod will look similar to that in a miata. i wish the miata cluster was easy to modify because id just use one of those. i think im going to run all VDO gauges aswell, im going to have my buddy mill out the plates on a CNC mill at his work because my mill isnt up an running yet Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

peej410 Posted November 21, 2004 Author Share Posted November 21, 2004 its a daily driver, as far as im concerned having a bar right next to my skull is worse in a daily driver than it is necesary to have one there for "racing reasons" if sliding through a corner i whacked a curb and hit my head on the cage i think it would be alot worse than the highly unlikely rollover accident. either way my head is basically right in front of the main hoop. ive been building cages a few years and my boss has been building them for 15 plus years and after lots of thought we decided its better like this.
