Guest mtbrider586
1976 280z starts but dies after a few seconds. Found that the efi relay that sends 12 volts to the injector resistor is only producing 8.5 volts output to the resistor which in turn drops the voltage down more. back probed the blue wire going to the resistor while starting engine. found if I jump 12 volts to the blue wire engine starts and runs fine. the wire coming into the relay is 11.75 volts so about 3.25 volt drop across the relay. Autozone.com has wire diagrams free for all the z car years. was a big help . do not put b+ voltage to any of the black wires on the relay. they are computer ground signals and will fry the engine computer if you do.Remeber that most computers on cars control output devises with only a ground signal. first verify which wire is going to the resistor before making a jump lead. by either the color code on the diagram or checking continutity from the relay connection to the resistor connection.
