New discovery for the knocking problem

Hi, I know I posted something on here about the knocking on my 86 300ZX engine...I have yet to follow the instructions in cleaning out the lifters because I'm up at college and will be doing it over Christmas break. However, I just found out that whenever I first start my engine and drive around it doesn't knock...But whenever the car is nice and hot and his been driving for about 30 mins or so...The knocking starts and starts getting worse. Any clue? Or is it still the lifters that need cleaning?

When an engine heats up and then starts to make tapping noises, there's a good chance that its hydraulic lifter related. As the oil gets hotter, it becomes thinner, making it harder for older lifters to stay "inflated". Especially at idle or very low RMP's. I'm not sure how cleaning the lifters would help...They probably just need to be replaced.
